1. If this had an easy answer, I would give it to you. If I thought you could see how easily you could be happier by my telling you, I would. But then I would need you to be honest with me, to not pretend like you don’t realize the consequences of what you have said and done.

  4. It’s the People not the Places…

Last night someone asked me if there was anything in particular I had seen or done in Chicago that I would like to share…I realized my fondest memories are of the people I’ve met and our conversations, not the places we’ve been.

  6. I would like to be the air that inhabits you for a moment only. I would like to be that unnoticed and that necessary.

  7. People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.

  8. It’s a collection of moving moments

    Saturday:

8am, a phone call from my mother waking me up (she assumed I’d be awake)

8:20am, a text asking me to join a friend for breakfast, my grumpy response, followed by feeling compelled to join because they didn’t want to be alone this morning.

9:30am, telling the story of when I threw it all in the air and took life by the hand

9:45am, my friend realizing the point of my story and being grateful I shared….priceless

Fast forward a few hours, a trip to Devon with a sweet friend…feeling firsthand the difference between Indians and Pakistanis in Chicago…eating chole batura and ras malai at a random spot, laughing about the silly Indian movies we’ve seen, chatting about the things that are worrying us, and enjoying the sunshine…priceless.

Dinner to celebrate a wonderful person’s birthday and people watching late into the night.

Perfect way to end a rough week :-)

  9. Be friendly, but cautious.
You’re gonna have to count your losses.
    Easily attracted,
    But dangerous to get distracted.
